House Painting 101: Follow These Simple Instructions
Many people go about painting rooms in their home without the proper preparation. They don't think about how messy painting can actually be, even if you're particularly careful. Instead of relying upon yourself to not make a mess, you must instead follow some simple guidelines that can help ensure you keep paint off of undesired areas within the home and on yourself.
First of all, do not wear clothes that you usually wear on any given day. Whatever you wear, be okay with throwing it away afterward. While you may make it through the whole project without getting any paint on yourself, you most likely are going to at least score a few drops. Perhaps you have a pair of clothes you have painted in before, or maybe you can wear the clothes you have to work out in the yard.
Do not think that you're going to be edging and doing it just right without having taped off the edges first, that is unless you're a professional. There are many different tools and things, but taping is a requirement if you want your rooms to look nice. There are always more edges than just where the wall meets the ceiling and where the wall meets the baseboard.
Make sure you have everything else taken care of beforehand too, like taking off the outlets and laying down plastic sheeting across the floor so that there is no paint on the floor when you're done. You will not even notice at times the paint that gleans off the roller as you continue along. Making sure the plastic is laid down will help you not have to worry about this unfortunate incident. Following the other painting tips described can help even the novice painter come out on the bright side of things.
